Dog Meat Trade Ends In China Saving Millions Of Dogs Each Year

Great news for dog lovers everywhere — China reclassifies dogs as pets, so that means dogs will be “companion animals.”

Dogs are no longer livestock in China, which will put an end to the dog meat trade.

China created a new list of animals that can be traded for food (meat) — and dogs are no longer on it!!! Woohoo. And neither are cats.

So, the Chinese government went a step further and banned wild animals for sale intended for food to reduce the risk spread of animal to human diseases, like SARS and COVID-19.

Consider 10 million dogs are killed each year in the dog meat trade in China.
